Opening Scene Script

INT. BEDROOM - DAY

A man has woken up ready for another day, he has an emotionless face on him and is shown with a groggy expression, he walks over to the living room and sits down on one of the couches closest to a wall, where he meets one of his roommates watching TV. The roommate in question is seen wearing raggy-like pajamas. They say hello to each other and talk about what they want to do.

JIM

Hey.

TOM

Hi.

JIM

How long you've been up for?

Tom takes a while to answer that question

TOM

Uuuuuhh. Probably around 5..10, or 30 minutes maybe?

I don't know to be honest.

Jim then nods his head as he says a faint 'OK' before turning his mind fully to the distance. 

TOM

So how’s the project going?

JIM

It’s going fine…

TOM

Alright then.

After some time, Jim looks over to Tom and asks him about what they could do today, as most of their days are just spent staying indoors and watching whatever's on TV.

JIM

Anyways, do you have any plans today?

TOM (confused)

No, why?

JIM

I don't know, I just thought about doing something, you know?

TOM (still confused)

I see. I see.

JIM

Like how about taking a simple walk around the park?

Or maybe going down to somewhere we used to go back when we were employed or something.

TOM

Like where?

JIM

Remember that pizza place with that friendly owner? Maybe somewhere like that.

TOM

Oh yeah, I remember him.

JIM

Yeah, He was the greatest person ever.

TOM

I know.

JIM

So what did you think, maybe something like that?

TOM (thinking)

Uhhh...I don't know though.

JIM

Ok, how about this.

While the two are continuing their conversation, another roommate is silently sleeping on another couch starts overhearing the conversation, and wakes up to know what's going on.

DAN (now awake)

What's going on?

Jim and Tom stop the conversation and look over to Dan.

JIM

Oh, hi Dan. Didn't know you were there actually.

DAN

Very funny. What are you guys talking about?

JIM

Well, we are just...you know, discussing things like what clothes we should wash or if we have any food we had to get.

While Jim is giving excuses, we see Dan having a blank expression, knowing full well that Jim is making excuses.

DAN

You were talking about plans that involved me, isn't it?

Jim tries to deny it, but relentlessly admits the truth.

JIM

No, But like.., The thing?..is-

Ok yes, We were talking about that.

Dan gives a slightly angry expression to the two, as he refuses to ever go through with going outside, mostly preferring to stay indoors and waste his life there. 

DAN

When will you guys ever learn...

(goes back to sleep)

Jim and Tom have an emotionless look as they've experienced this many times.

TOM

Well, that happe-

Jim has finally had enough, as seen as he starts getting angry.

JIM

YOU KNOW WHAT? I'M JUST SICK OF THIS GUY, HE ALWAYS JUST SLEEPING AND SLEEPING AND SLEEPING! NOT ONCE DOES HE ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HIMSELF, AND NEITHER DOES HE WANT TO FIX HIMSELF UP!

I WISH I NEVER ALLOWED HIM TO LIVE WITH US, HE WAS BUILT FOR THE STREETS AND ONLY FOR THE STREETS!

DAN

Quiet! Will you?

JIM

NO! LISTEN HERE MISTER, WE TOOK YOU IN BECAUSE WE WANTED TO ACTUALLY HELP YOU GET BACK ON YOUR FEET, SEEING YOU SUCCEED AND WHATNOT. BUT NO! YOU JUST HAD TO BITE THE HAND, DIDN'T YOU! YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT IMPROVING YOURSELF, YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT WHINGING ABOUT HOW YOUR LIFE SUCKS AND DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT, THAT'S YOUR ISSUE!

DAN (expressionless)

...Whatever

(goes back to sleep)

After this meltdown, Jim goes to the bathroom to calm himself down while Tom sits there in shock and silence, as he has never seen Jim this angry before in his whole time with him.
